Dear Parents and Carers,
It’s been another busy week at Kells Lane, especially with our science activities. The children took part in a wide range of scientific investigations and Year 6 spent the day at the Nissan factory experiencing modern engineering first-hand. I think we have some budding designers and engineers of the future! Thank you to everyone at Nissan for a wonderful day.
An enormous well done to our girls’ football team who played in a tournament at Gateshead Stadium last night. Mr Colligan and Mrs King both said they played with determination and resilience. Well done to Aminah, Lola, Nalani, Amelia, Robin, Anya, Evie, Isobel and Ella; you made us all proud.
We also spent some time reflecting upon the importance of remembrance this week. The school choir gave an accomplished performance as part of a special remembrance concert at Joseph Swan Academy. I was extremely proud of their excellent singing and exemplary behaviour.
To continue the theme of remembrance this week, I feel compelled to share a piece of home learning with you. Please watch this video and interview put together by Amelia in Year 6. It is certainly the most powerful piece of homework I have ever seen.
We will remember them.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs A Whistler
Headteacher
