Friday Bulletin – Friday 11th March 2016

Many of our children have been out on visits this week. Year 1 learned more about their ‘Space’ topic at the Centre for Life in Newcastle, Year 2 visited St. Mary’s Church on the Quayside and our Early Years children spent yesterday learning about animals at Hall Hill Farm in Durham. We believe it is important for children to understand that learning is a lifelong process and happens in all sorts of locations.
Next week promises to be an extremely Arts rich week at Kells Lane. Year 5 pupils have been invited to Lord Lawson Academy on Monday to watch their production of the Disney musical ‘The Lion King’. The excitement continues as Year 4 pupils take part in the Gateshead Dance Festival at the Sage next Wednesday evening. I know they have given their all in rehearsals and are very much looking forward to this special event. Our week of creativity culminates in the Kells Lane Spring Concert on Thursday and Friday afternoon. I hope parents of Y3, Y4 & Y5 children will be able to join us for our tribute to musical theatre hosted by the pupils in Y3, Y4 & Y5. Please see below for details about your invitation.
The situation with our school dining hall and kitchen is ongoing and is unlikely to be resolved before the Easter holidays. I have written to you today to provide you with more information, including an updated menu, and will continue to update you as the situation develops. Please be assured I am working with the Governors and the Local Authority to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Have a good weekend.
