Friday Bulletin – 13th January 2017

13 January 2017

Dear Parents and Carers,

Many of you will have seen articles in the press about the challenges of teacher recruitment in schools, particularly in our region. Universities also tell us they face significant difficulties when it comes to finding schools willing to host placements for trainee teachers.

At Kells Lane, we feel very strongly that one of our responsibilities is the development of the next generation of teachers. The staff at Kells Lane have extensive skills and knowledge to share with the talented students coming through.

We are currently hosting students from Northumbria University: they attend two days a week and work alongside the teachers, sometimes working with small groups to deliver focused intervention.

Next week we will welcome a new trainee from Sunderland University, undertaking the intensive School Direct Initial Teacher Training programme, to work alongside Miss Bustard in Year One.

We enjoy sharing our practice with these students and they too have much to offer, often bringing new ideas and fresh approaches to delivering the curriculum. If you have any questions about any of the placements in school, please feel free to get in touch.

I hope you manage to keep warm this weekend.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs A Whistler

Headteacher
