Friday Bulletin – 3rd February 2017

3 February 2017

Dear Parents and Carers,

February 7th 2017 is Safer Internet Day, a day that is very important to our school and pupils. Safer Internet Day is coordinated by the ‘Insafe’ network and is celebrated every year across Europe, and in other countries worldwide.

In the UK, Safer Internet Day is organised by the UK Safer Internet Centre and this year’s theme is “Be the change: Unite for a better internet.”

Kells Lane is participating alongside hundreds of other schools across the UK. Our children will be learning about how to use the internet safely and positively. Please follow this link for information specifically designed for parents and carers. https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/2017/education-packs/education-pack-parents-and-carers.

As part of our focus on safe internet use, we have organised a day for our children to experience Google Expeditions in the next couple of weeks. Please follow this link to find out more https://www.google.co.uk/edu/expeditions/#about.

One of the highlights of my job is that I often have children come to show me the work they are particularly proud of. This week I have had visits from children in Year 1 who wanted to teach me how to ‘de-bug’ an algorithm, and from some extremely talented poets in Year 3. I have included a poem in this week’s bulletin that was written by Elliott in Maple class. I’m sure you will agree it is exceptional.

The Wind

The wind is an invisible crowd of people pushing you back to where you came from.

The wind is a howling wolf on the perch of a mountain,

It is a force blowing leaves off trees and sand from the seaside.

The wind is an invisible foe, fighting against you and forcing you backwards.

I hope you have a lovely (not too windy) weekend.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs A Whistler

Headteacher
