Friday Bulletin – 6th January 2017

6 January 2017

Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year and a warm welcome back to school after what I hope was an enjoyable and restful break.

One of my bulletins before the Christmas break made reference to changes to a couple of school policies. Following consultation with you via the parent questionnaire, I have rewritten the school policy on homework and am busy getting everything finalised ready for introduction after the February half term. I hope you will find our new home learning policy to be much more manageable and fitting with a busy family life.

The other policy recently under review was uniform. The governors and staff at Kells Lane Primary School are keen to ensure that all children wear the full and correct school uniform. Our policy has now been reviewed and updated. Where possible, consideration has been taken to ensure costs are kept as low as possible.

We are keen not only that our children enjoy a strong sense of identity with their school, but also that children and parents do not feel pressure to buy expensive alternative clothing. We also want our children to enjoy a sense of equality with one another.

We are introducing some changes to our existing policy and respectfully request that you keep these in mind when purchasing any uniform items for the remainder of this academic year. The approved date for the changes to our uniform policy, as set by the school’s governing body, come into effect for pupils in September 2017. A copy of our new policy will be sent home with your child today and a copy is attached below for your convenience.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs A Whistler

Headteacher
