Friday Bulletin & Diary Dates – 5th October 2018

5 October 2018

Dear Parents and Carers,

You will be aware from regular news coverage that school budgets are being increasingly stretched. At Kells Lane, we feel passionately about maintaining high standards and an exciting and stimulating curriculum, particularly during these challenging times.

As part of the strategy to keep things fresh for our children, we regularly review what we do and make changes when they are necessary. This will sometimes be for financial reasons; however, it is more commonly to improve our traditional arrangements.

We are introducing some new activities for the end of next half term. These include an after school Christmas film club, open to all pupils from Year 1 to Year 6, an ideal opportunity for parents to do any last minute Christmas shopping! We are also planning a whole school visit to see ‘Aladdin’ at Gateshead International Stadium.

Our carol service will be different this year. Children from Year 1 to Year 6 will take part in traditional carol services at St. Helen’s Church and our youngest children, in Reception classes, will be performing a Nativity play. Unfortunately, due to capacity in church, we are unable to invite parents to our carol services, but we do hope to host a Christmas concert to enable our school musicians to showcase their progress this term.

We try to share as much detail as possible in advance. I am sure you will appreciate there are instances when this is not possible. The school website and text messaging service are by far the most efficient methods of communication, both financially for school, and in terms of speed and reliability for parents and carers. Do please check the Friday Bulletin on the school website for diary updates as this will often include key dates and start times.

Many thanks for your continued support. I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Yours sincerely,

 Mrs A Whistler
