Last Friday a group of children from Year 4 and Year 6 represented the school in an athletics competition at Gateshead International Stadium. Miss Nagle accompanied the group and was hugely impressed by their teamwork and sportsmanship. She has asked me to thank all the children involved for their outstanding contributions on the day and for making Kells Lane so proud.
I was inspired by our talented musicians this week as they performed at the annual Joseph Swan Summer Concert. Congratulations to everyone who took part, particularly Emily, Eadie and Edward, who performed exceptional solo pieces to a very appreciative audience.
Kells Lane staff took part in extensive safeguarding training this week. We do this regularly as we live in an ever changing world and it can be a challenge to keep up with new developments. Keeping our children safe in an ever advancing technological world is a source of anxiety for many. This week sees the launch of a new campaign by the CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection) education team entitled ‘The world changes. Children don’t.’
Behind this contemporary campaign is the message that, although technology and social media can seem overwhelming and forever evolving, children and young people don’t change. The Thinkuknow website provides information to support parents to understand and respond to the risks children may face as they grow. Please do take the time to familiarise yourself with the resources on this website: www.thinkuknow.co.uk/parents.
Have a great weekend.
